Spin Day - Experyment Science Centre
On November 10, 2024, the Experyment Science Centre in Gdynia hosted SPiN Day 2024 – a nationwide celebration of science, during which several institutions from across Poland joined forces in a shared effort to promote and communicate science. This year’s edition was dedicated to citizen science and topics related to the protection of the Baltic Sea.

As part of the event, the MARE Foundation showcased the Ecomarinas project at its booth. This initiative, carried out under the Interreg South Baltic program and coordinated by Gdański Ośrodek Sportu, aims to protect the Baltic Sea by promoting sustainable water management in marinas. The project focuses on reducing pollution and educating both sailors and marina users. At our booth, we highlighted key threats such as eutrophication, the impact of antifouling paints, and improper waste management in sailing. We also presented practical solutions for how sailors and marina operators can contribute to protecting the Baltic ecosystem – from using eco-friendly infrastructure to adopting more sustainable everyday habits.
During Spin Day 2024, the MARE Foundation also hosted educational workshops on climate change, biodiversity, and human impact on the marine environment. Participants – both adults and children – had the opportunity to learn how their everyday choices can influence the health of our sea.
Participation in Spin Day 2024 was an important part of fulfilling the mission of the Ecomarinas project, which focuses on raising public awareness about the protection of the marine environment.
We would like to sincerely thank the EXPERYMENT Science Centre for the invitation, as well as all visitors for their engaging conversations and active participation!
