The sea isn't a background to our daily lives. It's a living ecosystem. For centuries, people who set out to sea have understood this perfectly: we are small, nature is powerful, and the sea can never be taken for granted. Today, it's easy to forget this.
We rush. We choose comfort. We treat the sea as a place to sail, swim, relax, or visit.
And yet, the Baltic Sea is more than just a blue landscape. It's a part of our lives.
The ECOMARINAS Code of Conduct for Sea People was created on behalf of all who love the sea
– not just sailors.

FOR SEA PEOPPLE
1. We treat water with respect. Our future depends on it..
2. We act with humility on the water and ashore. We are guests here, not owners.
3. We recognise the Sea as a Living system and we don't trade its health for short-term convenience.
4. We choose what's right. Even when the law doesn't require it.
5. We take responsibility for our impact and we put proper systems and habits in place to protect the water and shore.
6. We act with the same respect in every place we touch - sea, shore, and marina - and we do our part to reduce our footprint.
7. We take this pledge seriously and we hold ourselved accountable to it.

The ECOMARINAS project is co-financed by the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021-2027 from the European Regional Development Fund and will run until June 2027. The project, implemented by eight partners from four countries in the Baltic Sea region, addresses the pressing challenges of wastewater management, invasive species management, plastic pollution reduction, and climate change adaptation, among others.
